The Green Roof Process –
A key element of the CGT AVRS® product design is a simple and dependable installation process resulting in a low maintenance and high performance solution. In new and re-roof applications, the following steps are required:
Infrastructure inspection, Leak Test, and approval by an engineer to ensure the roof can support a fully-saturated AVRS® solution (Architect, contractor, building owner).
Placement of a high-quality roofing membrane (Contractor).
A formal design considering walk paths, vents, flashing, windows, etc. (Architect, contractor).
Installation of the AVRS®solution, including the trays, interlocking pins, irrigation locks, walk paths, edge flashings, and locking to the building. No root barrier or filter fabric needed.
Install the irrigation drip system, including tray hooks.
Fill the AVRS® trays with the recommended engineered growing media. The AVRS® soil mix includes ZEBA®a unique super-absorbent based on natural cornstarch, making it biodegradable, nontoxic and odorless.
Plant the required sedums, natives, firewise non-invasive plants as per design specifications (Post Planting, Pre-Planting, Hydro planting, or Sedum Tiles is also an effective alternative).
Follow the required maintenance plan to ensure proper coverage and growth.
